Samae Beach my personal favorite

Samae Beach is my personal favorite of beaches here on the island. Gentile breezes most of the year make it pleasant almost any time. White sand with clear blue water also makes Samae Beach an excellent choice for relaxing the day away. There are places to stay here for those that love the sound of the surf when going to sleep. Many restaurants line the beach so your never too far away from your favorite dish. . Most of the restaurants here are simple structures built atop existing beach sand, there are however two restaurants that have concrete floors. These two restaurants are located at the far north and south portion of the beach. The one on the south end is called Chom Talae Resort. Chom Talae has a great ocean view that can add to your dining experience. There are also bungalows for rent here. The bungalows here are very basic, all have TV but, no hot water or aircon. Next to the ocean aircon is really not necessary but no hot water may be a problem for some, I find the cool water quite refreshing. At the north end of the beach you will find Cape Gold, the restaurant here has a character all it's own. The owner here really has a knack for decorating this place with artifacts that come drifting in from the ocean. Many people come here to just relax all day. Cape Gold also has bungalows for rent. Bungalows here are as basic as it gets, built of wood with thatched roofs, these are true beach comber hide away's. You can really get down to nature here in this place.

Just another long day at the office for me.

White sand, blue water, and plenty of beach chairs.

More lounge chair lizards.

Beach side department store ?

On the island there are many of these kiosks, this one is located on the way to Samae Beach. As of the time I am writing this page, I have no information as to what these are going to be used for. I can only speculate that these are going to be used as road side restaurants or for information booths for tourists. Notice the view in the back ground, in my book this would be a great place to have lunch. I'll keep every one posted as I find out about these buildings. Please take note that I Photo shopped this image because at the time, I snapped this photo, this building was still under construction. The photo here depicts how I think it will appear when finished.

On the road to Samae Beach, at the crest, are these bungalows. These bungalows are also very basic. However if you enjoy stunningly beautiful views this, is the place for you. Each one has it's own private seating area that's perfect for that morning coffee, or just lounging the day away. In the early evening as the sun is dipping into the gulf you can catch some wonderful sun sets. Most of the time as the sun sets the sea can appear as a bed of diamonds. Simply put, this is a great place to spend the night.
The restaurant here at the crest sports a wonderful view of the ocean in two different directions, because it is at the crest of the mountain you can see the ocean on both sides of the island. The view here in this photo overlooks the ocean towards the city. The other direction has a view of Samae Beach and the Gulf of Thailand, next photo. At the restaurant many more can be seated here than what it appears in the photo.
Here is the view from one of the bungalows looking down at Samae Beach and the gulf. It's hard to see the real depth of this, in a photo, a photo may tell a thousand words, but it's not like actually being here.

Here is one of the bungalows from the inside. The windows on three walls allow for a nice breeze to flow through, perfect for that afternoon nap.

Yes the guy in the mirror is me, and yes, I could of Photo shopped this out, but ?

The restaurant Cape Gold located at the north end of the beach, no longer exist. Progress has taken it's toll and was torn down in mid August. The former owner Dr. Long extends his gratitude to the many that have visited here over the years. Samae Beach will never be the same.

Sunset at Cape Gold

If you love beautiful sunsets, then this is the place to be. This photo was taken from just outside the restaurant at Cape Gold. The sunsets here change from one moment to another. During the monsoon season they become even more spectacular than this. I promise to take more sunset photos during the coming monsoon season and I will post them as I get them. I just love a beautiful sunset after a hard day at the beach, don't you.

Another Samae Beach sunset from the hill top
